more RAM as a solution (sluggishness)

oh, i do use that monitor since long time.
right now, may main problem is a startup time (from switch on to the  
login) of 2.5 minutes !
and it seems to me that it even became worst with disabling some services  
(like apmd, atd, bluez-utils, pcmcia, readahead, pppd-dns, ntpdate,...).
and, of course, the sluggish performance of the applications. i did work  
with WinXP the last few days, and i have to say, it does work with well  
speed. :-(
