Cloneing OS & GRUB trouble

How about booting from Knoppix, mount your cloned HD and chroot in it.
Then run "grub-install".
Or on the other way: find a way to confirm that the BIOS is executing 
the MBR of your 160 GB (Master) HD. If the BIOS is doing it right, then 
there must be something wrong with your grub installation.

Not a lot of help, just some thoughts.
