/dev/dsp, /dev/snd/*, /dev/usb/* permissions in breezy following 2.6.12-10-686-smp kernel update

It might be that the proper group permissions aren't set.  Mine look like this:

cdawson at brasilia:~ $ groups
cdawson adm dialout cdrom floppy audio video plugdev lpadmin scanner
cdawson at brasilia:~ $ ls -l /dev/snd
total 0
crw-rw----  1 root audio 116,  0 2005-11-26 19:54 controlC0
crw-rw----  1 root audio 116, 32 2005-11-26 19:54 controlC1
crw-rw----  1 root audio 116, 40 2005-11-26 19:54 midiC1D0
crw-rw----  1 root audio 116, 24 2005-11-26 19:54 pcmC0D0c

crw-rw----  1 root audio 116, 33 2005-11-26 19:54 timer

Make sure your group permissions are set to audio, and that you are in
the proper group.  Perhaps the upgrade borked this.
