I forgot to mention that I was using the NVidia open-source drivers. I
did enable the composite and switched to the closed-source drivers
(although I had to use the kernel 2.6.15-14, as 2.6.15-15, the last
kernel for Dapper, doesn't have support for Nvidia-glx).
