I seem to have messed up my ability to hibernate somehow. I did install
an updated kernel and this is probably at least part of the problem. Now
I'm trying to get it to work again.

The original problem was that I started getting a message when I booted
after hibernating the computer. The message indicated that I needed to
set the resume boot parameter for my kernel. So I did. I set it to be:

resume=/dev/hdc2

This is my swap partition and I would assume that is what is required.
Now that I have the setting correct the computer doesn't try to resume at
all, but simply reboots. I tried installing the hibernate package from
universe, thinking this might help, but I don't really think I need it. I
didn't have it before. So I removed it (after it was unsuccessful).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh there is one more change that might be significant. I added some
memory to the laptop.

Thank you,
