Installing GIMPshop and fighting with Synaptic

Okay, that's cool. The only thing is that there's no time frame or 
priority or voting or anything, so there's no way of telling when it 
might be available. A little frustrating, but I guess there's nothing 
that can be done about it since the people adding it to the repository 
are probably volunteers.

The question is then, can I and should I install gimpShop from it's own 
web site in the meantime? Can I do it in such a way that Synaptic will 
stop complaining at me?
