WiFi Madness Problem With 6.10 Xubuntu

I've had a great 'fiddle' today ... with no result ... so I think that my 
decision to revert to 6.06 which I know works on this machine is a good one.  
According to ubuntu/xubuntu gurus there is still 12 months of support for 
this distribution, so I shall stay with that.  Thanks to you both for help.
