USB Speakers / Mouse

Grussen,

I have lovely usb speakers and a lovely usb mouse which work, so far, flawlessly on dapper (kubuntu). But .............. if I have to unplug them for any reason while the system is up and running, and then plug them in again ........... they don;t work anymore.

Is there a command I can run that will 'restart' them instead of having to restart the machine?
