Fetching updated packages automatically

You didn't mention what version you're running, but on Edgy (6.10),
the option you want to set is in System/Administration/Software
Sources. Click on the Internet Updates tab. There you can set how
often you want to check for updates and whether to download (and even
install) new packages automatically.
