How to configure Konqueror for / ?

My apologies for not sharing the answer. It was a serious oversight on
my part. I especially apologize because I hate it when others don't.

First of all, the thread that helped me was
konqueror not displaying all folders
in October 2006.

What I gleaned was the following info that is unfortunately not clearly
documented.

Konqueror seems to have two separate modes,
one for using it as a File Manager
and one for using it for a Web browser.

They are selected by
Settings -> View -> Load View Profile -> Load Kubuntu File Manager _or_
Ubuntu Web.

Select Ubuntu File Manager if not already selected.

Next use F9 to bring up a vertical menu on the left hand side.

The default selection seems to be "Home Folder", represented by an icon
that looks like a little house.
Next to the icon column is a listing of directories and files starting
from the user's home folder making it easy to browse anywhere in the
users /home directory.

Near the bottom is an icon of a folder which says Root Folder" when you
hover. Click this and the listing of directories now starts with the
Root Folder / and gives access to the entire system.
