Why did you re-install Ubuntu?
Why do you say you lost your e-mails if they're on a backup CD?

Did you try wine? A lot of win32 applications run quite well under it!
You could also have installed Windows in a VMware session... And why
that strange format? AFAIK, Thunderbird uses the (very common) mailbox
format.

Well, I happen to disagree, having to switch from Kubuntu back to
Windows XP at work. I would be more than happy that you actually
justify that sentence, just to see what you think Ubuntu lacks,
because I for sure can see what Windows lacks compared to Ubuntu!
