Hi all
I tried to install beryl on my laptop according to the Ubuntu wiki
[1]. However I always ended up with:
beryl: No manageable screens found on display :0
On my Laptop I have kde and the GPU is a Radeon 9200. DRI worked with
the 'radeon' driver. A friend of mine got it working, but with GLX and
the fglrx driver (he also has a newer ATI GPU, not sure which one). I
was pretty much surprised that, according to the Ubuntu wiki, Beryl
should work with the open source driver. Can anybody confirm that it
works with the 'radeon' driver?
Btw: I also tried to install Ubuntu Edgy from scratch on my Dell
Dimension 9150 and X did not work. I remeber that it already not
worked under Dapper (but I think I reported a bug..) However, I'm
disapointed that Ubuntu doesn't work out of the box on such a common
machine.
Will report a more detailed bug report when I have more time.
Nils
