>From Synaptic, load sysv-rc-conf.  Make sure you understand Debian run
levels  before you do anything.  They are different than Fedora's  
There is also a HOWTO: on script removals from init.d  I'll try to find
the thread again.  (The thread also uses sysv-rc-conf) :)
