Well lets see if I can remember to my initial ubuntu install(s)...
Which was with breezy... I upgraded to dapper via apt-get.
I remember doing both the default install of ubuntu breezy, then an
expert install of the kubuntu version of breezy...
When I found out that the initial user account created during the install
was automatically set up as a sudoer, Without informing me it was going
to, I got *ticked an used mkfs on the dang thing.
* (since I always use a dummy account when an installer
* asks me to create a user, and create my real account(s)
* after I've insured the existence of pine and mc and then
* tweaked the files in /etc/skel to my liking...)
By the time I found out that an expert install created a traditional
working root account and let me defer creating user accounts till later,
I also knew I wanted kubuntu instead. But as far as the installer goes, I
didn't see any real diff between ubuntu and kubuntu...
Aside from the forced sudo setup vs root login thing, the only real
difference was the expert install gave me more initial configuration
choices (including giving me more control over the default packages)
Which means there were more questions I needed the correct answers to,
hence "expert mode"
Of course if you choose the expert install AND want to comply with
ubuntu's sudo method you will need to use the root account to set up a
user as a sudoer, then if you get that right you can use sudo to
disable the root login...
good luck.
