1. No problem with Ubuntu on my Intel-based MacBook.
2. Why bitch about user friendlyness? On Ubuntu you should at least
once check out what you can do in a recovery session, and what it
takes to downgrade an installed package with the
"sudo apt-get install <package-name>=<specific-version>"
command -- where the specific version can be chosen from the
/var/cache/apt/archives directory. This procedure can be a real
lifesaver and can be used without advice from news groups or forums
-- consider it something like the safety instructions at the start of a
flight: ignore at your own peril...
