help with second harddrive

Brendon, is there a file system on your new hard drive? Until you "format"
it ( make a file system on it), you won't really be able to do anything
with it.

There are several tools that can do this for you - some easier than
others. Can you tell us whether you have done this? Then we might be able
to recommend some steps to make the drive useful.

As Alan McKinnon suggests, please show us the result of typing

sudo fdisk -l   <enter>

and 
sudo df -h

sudo mount

in a terminal. ( Applications - Accessories - Terminal)
