No nameserver with NetworkManager after update

About two weeks ago some update subtly broke something, I don't know
exactly what, so NetworkManager is unwilling or unable to set the
nameserver dhcp found when connecting. Instead, I now have to look at
the log file and manually edit /etc/resolv.conf to set the nameserver.

The relevant part of daemon.log looks like this (removed ip adresses,
stars mark the relevant line):

localhost NetworkManager: <information> address n.n.n.n
localhost NetworkManager: <information> netmask n.n.n.n
localhost NetworkManager: <information> broadcast n.n.n.n
localhost NetworkManager: <information> gateway n.n.n.n
localhost NetworkManager: <information> nameserver n.n.n.n
localhost NetworkManager: <information> domain name 'a.domain.name'
localhost NetworkManager: <information>Activation (eth0) Stage 5 of 5
(IP Configure Commit) scheduled...
localhost NetworkManager: <information>Activation (eth0) Stage 4 of 5
(IP Configure Get) complete.
localhost NetworkManager: <information>Activation (eth0) Stage 5 of 5
(IP Configure Commit) started...
** localhost NetworkManager: <information>DHCP returned name servers but
system has disabled dynamic modification!
localhost NetworkManager: <information>Activation (eth0) Finish handler
scheduled.
localhost NetworkManager: <information>Activation (eth0) Stage 5 of 5
(IP Configure Commit) complete.
localhost NetworkManager: <information>Activation (eth0) successful,
device activated.

I'm humbly asking for info on:

* what could have happened and how do I fix it, or at least how and
where do I find more information that can help me figure it out? I use
my machine at at least two different places every day, and editing
resolv.conf manually every time is becoming _very_ old.

* Is there a way to get a list of updated packages, sorted by update
time, so I could narrow down what exact update broke this for me and
revert the package?

* Is there some way to restrict Dapper updates to _only_ serious
you-must-update-now-or-this-kitten-gets-it-see security updates,
skipping all other bug fixes or other updates until the next release
comes out?
