This gave me hours of headache and panic last night.

I'm using a Dell C640 (Pentium), with ATI Radeon M7 7500 card.

Was glad that users posting here saved me from being locked out from using my 
machine (well any GUI), but will not trust updates for a while! Think the 
cheery little Adept tray icon thing makes updating look too user friendly. 
Perhaps it's "aspirational". So far I like ubuntu, but I do think the tag 
line should be changed to "Linux for human beings who like browsing forums 
and typing sudo a lot"
