Chess ?

Excuse me, I am a newbie but this is rediculous. Synaptec package
manager shows no xboard. I need xboard to connect to freechess.org and
the Internet Chess Club (ICC) with Linux. It appears jinchess will not
be updated for months, perhaps years, if ever. But let's get one thing
straight: as far as I have seen,



THERE IS NO SUCCESSFUL: SUDO APT-GET INSTALL
XBOARD


Saying that it works is not the same as actually having it work. The
package is deprecated, or lost, or abandoned. And that is tough for me
because I have two other guys who I could Linuxize if xboard  was
available. Maybe 10 years ago it was available, but not here, not in
August, 2006.
