Slow performance Samba

Getting files from an Ubuntu server with NFS is 10 MB/s, now getting
files from the Windows XP Pro server with SMB is half that after doing
the reconmended WXP registery tweaks.

I really want to know where the other half of my bandwith is when using
WXP SMB compared to Linux NFS.

Installing a NFS Client/Server on WXP gives the me same performance as
Linux NFS, but you either have to pay 10 billion for a Win NFS client or
it's pure crap to use.
