how to refresh 6.06 and save /home?

If your /home is on its own partition then it is easy.  Simply tell the
new install not to overwrite it.  



If you can still access the data on the drive using the old
installation, or can fit the drive as a slave on another Linux
computer, you can get to the data and back it up to some other medium
for re-installation later.



If you do a completely new reinstall - make a separate partition for
your /home.  It can save you loads of problems in the future......;)
