Backing up LVs

You mean type "dm", don't you? Because that's what I see as well.

It seems that the gui "partition" selector doesn't support Device
Mapper and thus LVM.

HOWEVER, the CLI works just fine:

        sudo partimage save /dev/sys/URoot /some/where/URoot-image

This would save the LV "URoot" of VG "sys" in file(s) /some/where/URoot-image
