Agreed.  It's very little info to start with.

A few things that I can think to ask for specifically, to start out:

1) Just to make sure: You're running from an installed copy of Lunux,
right?  Not the Ubuntu live cd?

2) Open up a terminal (click Applications/Accessories/Terminal) and
run the command: "top".  Look below where it says %CPU and %MEM and
COMMAND.  Is there a particular command that seems to be taking a lot
of CPU and/or memory on your system?

3) You might want to run the command (also in the terminal): "ps aux",
and mail the results to the list.  This is a a command similar to top,
but is less interactive.  It would show us what's running on your PC,
along with some details regarding the status of each application (such
as whether or not it's hogging CPU/memory, etc.).
