Using Ubuntu absolves the user of personal responsibility?

How did you get that idea, that mount isn't for users?

OTOH: Who's the admin of a system? On simple "home user machines", the
home user is the admin, so why is it bad to know "admin commands"?

True. I can't make anybody learn and I don't care that much....
