Has Ubuntu Replaced Windows on Your Box?

I am using Ubuntu at work, attempting to replace our windows based work
environment. Here's what I need from Ubuntu.

- Dependability. It's been good for the most part, but I just installed
some updates this morning that totally trashed printing. Not unlike M$.

- A good text/code editor. Our environment evolved from Brief to
Codewright in Brief emulation mode. I'm now using GVim but I can't get
Tags working properly. Emacs is a nightmare to configure.

- Terminal emulation. The Gnome terminal is pretty good for most
environments, however, it sucks for dealing with old MPE boxes. We need
good easy to work with HP terminal emulation. I'm working with XTerm,
but it's arcane and difficult to use.

Of all the Linux distros, I think Ubuntu has the best chance of
replacing windows on a large scale. In order to do that, it needs to
become even more easy to use. Long, involved, cryptic instructions as I
often find on these forums are not going to turn M$ users into Linux
users.
