I have looked through the log, and as far as I can tell, all is working
fine. What you _should_ be seeing is that your desktop is the two
screens combined, and when you move the mouse cursor off the left edge
of the internal display, it should appear on the right hand side of the
external screen.
That DRI gets disabled when you switch on Xinerama is an unfortunate but
unescapeable side effect.
