Install Ubuntu on Areca RAID controller?

This is a note, as much for Google as for this forum, that Dapper's
installer will see an Areca controller, but you have to do a couple of
things to get the kernel actually running on it:

- boot into recovery mode

- let it find your root partition (it doesn't seem to drop into the
shell it promised)

- change to vt2 and chroot /target

- edit /etc/mkinitramfs/modules and add 'arcmsr'

- dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-`uname -r` to rebuild the initrd

This has been raised as 'bug 40075'
(https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/hw-detect/+bug/40075) in
Launchpad.
