Sorry, I'd thought that would do the job - I thought it had for me on a
different package.  In that case, I'd just get vicious and remove _all_ the
scripts for the package, then purge it (it won't find a pre- or post-
removal script, so it won't complain).  If you worry about things being
left that should have been purged, you could try installing and purging it
again - that sometimes works.
