dapper network timeouts

Dear all,

Has anybody been experiencing networking problems in dapper since the last
few days? It seems that sometimes the network just goes out. Mplayer (while
streaming) hangs, ssh terminals suspend for about 10 seconds etc. I know the
stream is not a problem, because another computer running mplayer on the
same stream under Warty (yes, I know, I need to upgrade that one :) runs
uninterrupted for > 3 hours on the same network subnet at the exact same
time.

Details:
* hanging accurs roughly 10 (+/- 1) minutes after starting the stream
* no errors appear in /var/log/messages
* DNS lookup also stops working, when I try to ping straight away it returns
"unknown host"
* ssh terminal sessions hang
* network device is /dev/eth0 0000:01:08.0 Ethernet controller: Intel
Corporation 82801BA/BAM/CA/CAM Ethernet Controller (rev 03)
* a simple restart of mplayer fixes it.
* a few seconds later, ping also works again, and the terminal responds
again.

I think filing a bug is in order, but would like to make a more intelligent
remark than "it stops working" :)

Are there any logfiles I can look at to see what is going wrong, and I can
file at bugreporting?

Anybody have some info?

Thanks, Henk Postma
