I have tried this, but in vain. :-( It did not work. My gtf command produced
the following output:
----
root at arth:/home/nagp# gtf 1280 800 60

  # 1280x800 @ 60.00 Hz (GTF) hsync: 49.68 kHz; pclk: 83.46 MHz
  Modeline "1280x800_60.00"  83.46  1280 1344 1480 1680  800 801 804 828
-HSync +Vsync

root at arth:/home/nagp#
----
I have also removed that "_60.00" from the Modeline and tried, it even did
not work. :(

Then, I switched to the 915resolution to give it a try.
My 915resolution file is
--------
# 915resolution default
#
# find free modes by  /usr/sbin/915resolution -l
# and set it to MODE
#
MODE=49
#
# and set resolutions for the mode.
#
XRESO=1280
YRESO=800
#
# We can also set the pixel mode.
# Please note that this is optional,
# you can also leave this value blank.
BIT=24
--------

And the output of /usr/sbin/915resolution -l is:
-----------

Can somebody tell what I am missing?
