Nero CD/DVD burner equivalent for ubuntu?

One problem:  not everyone uses Gnome. ;-)  I have been using KDE for so many 
years --since Caldera OL 1.2/.3-- that I was having lots of trouble finding 
things I needed when I tried Gnome for a week.

Aside from the above, your points are well taken.  I liked nautilus, though I 
had a difficult time getting used to it.
