screensaver doesn't recognize mouse wheel as an event

Lately on Dapper I've noticed that, when I'm reading books on the
computer, if I don't do anything but scroll the book with the mouse
wheel, the screensaver kicks in after the supposed time. Which package
could be the responsible? gnome-screensaver? xscreensaver? The mouse
is a common optical ps2 mouse.
