Dapper: Rename desktop device icons

Not sure if this is relevant to your problem, but I've noticed that at
least with usb storage devices if the filesystem has a volume label
that's what'll show up in nautilus, etc.  For instance, I gave my USB
pen drive a volume label of SWEENY, and that's what shows up under the
icon when I plug it in.  I'm not on my Ubuntu box right now and I
can't remember offhand the best way to label a volume, but I imagine
you can do it with gparted or a similar program.
