CD burning - hardware compatibility

Do you use KDE or Gnome? For Gnome there are apps such as graveman,
gnomebaker and serpentime that will burn CDs, as well as the built in
capabilities of the nautilus (open up burn:/// as a location, and drop
files into it). They all seem to work reasonably well on an IDE based
DVD burner that I have.
