Bootscreen weirdness

Hi all
Quick question.....
Running colony 4 with all updates on a laptop. Have the
pretty bootscreen as the system powers up. However if I am
not on a network connected to the internet - when it gets to
the time sync. to ntp.ubuntu.com it obviously fails / times
out and then it reverts back to the old white on black
bootscreen for the rest of the boot.
So 2 questions - is this normal? Or just a bit of flakyness?
and
where do I disable the time checking at boot, really don't
need my laptop at atomic clock precision ;-)
Ta
Jean
