Urgent help needed - keyboard

Hi,
can someone help me with this problem:
I use Breezy on AMD 64 for a long time. Today I started a session in
Gnome, then I did someting else, screensaver occured and I couldn't come
back because when I press any key, nothing happens. I killed session
from another computer, restarted in KDE (keyboard worked quite fine) and
tried to identify the problem. Everything seemed normal (Xorg.log,
system.log).
I tried to fiddle with gconf-editor
(desktop-gnome-peripherals-keyboard-kbd) with no success.
I can start Gnome, but with no response from keyboard.
Please, can you help me? I can live with KDE :-) , but I prefer Gnome.
