your kernel or server driver is broken (or deleted)
try reconfigure xorg modules and linux-kernel modules - search with
dpkg -l *linux*kernel*
dpkg -l *xorg*
There are a lot modules (special xorg) and yoy try reconfigure with
sudo apt-get reconfigure <module_name>
