wifi woes

Does anyone know how to get a 12" ibook g4 working on wireless networks with 
ubuntu?  I've tried a asus wl-167g usb adapter, but I've had a horrible time 
with the drivers I've tried and I can't make it work.  

It looks like I'm going to have to reinstall os x when my classes start so I 
can have access on campus, which isn't too bad, but I'm hoping someone knows 
some trick I've missed.  Eventually I'd like to dual boot, but I need to 
upgrade the hard disk before that will work.
