I'm pretty sure admin is right here. I was running Gentoo when they
first started working on Gentoo on the G5s and at first the fans would
run full blast since there was nothing telling the hardware that
everything was OK. Once they got fan drivers (at least I think they
did...) the G5s quieted down.
