Correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe that while this will affect the
gamma of the displayed image, which is important for tuning your
display quality, it doesn't affect the brightness of the actual screen
blacklight(i.e. how much power the flourescent tube consumes), which
is important for power saving on laptops. I could be wrong.
Also I don't know what the original poster was looking for. My
original assumption may have been too hasty.
