Ntloader missing and can't get dsl working in Ubuntu

Ok, this is now getting tiring...

1. I finally got Ubuntu installed and working (thanks to all for the
partitioning advice). Grub comes up and gives me the alternate choice of
using XP. When I pick it I get an 'ntloader missing' message and it won't
boot XP. Grub is installed to the /boot partition and I didn't overwrite the
MBR.

2. The second problem that I have is that I'm a complete linux newbie and I
can't get my DSL working. I didn't write down all my IP info back when I had
XP booting (my bad). When I installed Suse 9.2 several months ago, it was
able to let me enter my ISP login information (address and password) with a
nice dialog - I didn't have to manually enter any IP's or anything. I did
notice that Ubuntu could NOT set up my DHCP during install, so I skipped
this setup portion. Is this maybe the problem as far as connecting to my
dsl? I can activate my eth0 device but I have no IP address info for it.
Also I saw that there is a ppoe..something that I can run from a terminal
but I think you require all that IP info for that as well. Suse *never*
asked me for that stuff.

Obviously I need to solve problem 1. to get XP booting again, but 2. is a
problem as well because I can't even get online from ubuntu to solve the
problem and have to do it here from work.

Also, I never reset my adsl modem or unplugged the cable during all of my
many re-installations of ubuntu.

BTW, this mailing list has been an absolute godsend for me so far - thanks
to all.

Thanks, RQ
