firmware updates to wifi!??

It's the use of the word "firmware" that is causing the confusion.
Unlike in most instances where the word is encountered, with the intel
ipw2200 firmware update on linux you are not flashing the onboard ram
and updating the software on the actual wireless module. You are just
updating the way the operating system interacts with the hardware.



That said, don't worry--this particular "firmware" update won't do
anything that isn't undo-able.



I had the same concern a while back when I upgraded my driver/firmware.
