dual boot problem

When I re-installed Ubuntu after a computer failure, the installer
detected a version of Windows and included it on the grub menu.

However, I am unable to boot Windows from this menu getting:-
root (hd0,0)
Filesystem type unknown, partition type 0x7
savedefault
makeactive
chainloader +1
followed by a freeze

However, if I mount the partition from Ubuntu as NTFS, I can see the
Windows files.

How do I fix the boot problem?
Thanks.
