arping -I etho ip-address
and if you don't know the IP of the DHCP server, either check the leases
file or "grep DHCP /var/log/syslog".

Sure it will. Whereami works great, at least for wired interfaces - I'm
still trying to build my wireless network and haven't tried to find out if
whereami can handle wireless.
