sorry, i do not see why we should install any plugin (motif) before being
able to use Opera. it is just not needed.
i only can repeat what i sent out two times here in the list, because
Opera is just running smoothly on Ubuntu.

Hi to all interested in OPERA

it works well indeed.
i do use Opera (7.54) since i started using Warty beginning of this year.
Opera always worked fine for me. when Hoary was finally released i
upgraded from Warty to Hoary and Opera was still running. then i did an
Upgrade of Opera (8.01) some days ago, as i got to understand that they
provide us Opera for Ubuntu.
this means i have not done a new installation of Opera under Hoary but i
did it under Warty.
And that's what i have done:

1. download of <opera.DEB> from: http://www.opera.com/download/

when i tried to install this DEB-pack the message was coming up that some
other stuff needed to be installed first. so i did as promted:

2. $ dpkg --install libpng12-0

3. $ dpkg --install libqt3c102-mt

4. $ dpkg --install name-of-opera-deb-file.deb

i hope this still works. i see that 'libpng12-0' and 'libqt3c102-mt' are
part of standard
Ubuntu, so you also get it throu Synaptic. just install them first - if
not allready installed on your system by default.
