Installation - Have ethernet card on computer but not connected to network.

I have a x86 PC.   It has a PCI Ethernet card.   However, the PC is a desktop used at home that is not connected to any type of network except Internet.  Will ubuntu detect the card and try to setup  DHCP on it?   If yes, is there a work around like expert  install mode on Debian?
