I use JDEE intensively at work. It works great. But... I don't use the
Ubuntu/Debian packages but the original version[1].

AFAIK the Ubuntu/Debian JDEE-packages are not properly maintained,
Things like setting the Java documentation URL or code completion will
not work out-of-the-box.

This applies also to Ubuntu, since the JDE version in ubuntu is
exactly the same as in Debian.
