silly question.. but are you trying to open the networking panel from your
original install user? or some user that you have created later? If the
latter, do you have appropriate access? The defaults for subsequent users
are very restrictive (correctly, in my view).
If you try to open a root terminal, does the same password work?
just a couple of thoughts.
