DVD reading problems

I think that means you need to install libdvdcss2.  I'm pretty sure it's in
the following APT repository:

deb http://ubuntu-backports.mirrormax.net/ hoary-extras main universe multiverse restricted

(watch the linewrap).

Also make sure that your DVD drive is set for an appropriate region (hack,
spit!).  It gave me some problems for a while until I realised what was
going on.
