Breezy/X.org/nVidia poor performance

I have not found the answer yet.  I did a bit of reading on the nVidia 
forums but I already know about most of the common problems like 
RenderAccel, not using the right AGP (or speed), MTRR, and other things 
like that.  I know that probably isn't the issue since my setup is 
identical on two systems that exhibit different behavior.

It must have something to do with the new stuff in Breezy.  I read about 
some builds of Gtk+ or KDE being slow (under various conditions, nothing 
hard to go on though).  Or it could be some daemon running or something, 
I'm not sure what is going on.  I'm going to try a KDE session and see 
if that makes any difference.
